Three ideas we build against.
We are a small company, and we are explicit about how our applications are made. Two of the ideas below are borrowed, one is our name. All three point the same direction: care taken to achieve the highest standards of quality, detail, ownership and privacy.
01αριστούργημα
aristoúrgima — masterpiece
The word means the best work a person has in them, and we took it as a company name knowing how that reads. It is a standard to be held to, not a claim already earned.
In practice: an app ships when nothing more should be added, and not on a quarter boundary.
02職人
shokunin — the craftsman's obligation
A shokunin is not simply skilled; the word carries a duty to the work itself and to the people who will use it. The obligation holds in the parts nobody inspects.
In practice: the empty state, the error message and the second-day experience get the same attention as the screenshot.
03改善
kaizen — steady improvement
Improvement in small, deliberate increments, made by the people doing the work. It is a discipline of refinement, not of addition.
In practice: releases remove friction and rarely add surface. A changelog of subtractions is a good changelog.
Privacy is an architecture, not a policy.
A promise not to misuse your data is worth less than never holding it. Our apps are built so the data is on your device, leaving it only as plain, documented exports, and so that we have nothing to hand over, sell, or lose. It is the same obligation as the rest of this page: do the right thing in the part nobody can see.
local first, sometimes local only
Nothing connects unless you ask
Where an app genuinely needs the network — a lookup, an export, a sync you asked for — it says so on its own page, in one sentence, without euphemism. We would rather lose a feature than add a server.
no account, no identity
We do not know who you are
There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no user record, no mailing list, and no way for us to connect a purchase to a person. Support is by email, and that thread is the only thing we hold.
